My Profile
My name is Rosa Malango, I am a global citizen, a committed mentor, a mother, a former senior UN official, and an experienced manager with extensive experience in developing solutions in extremely complex situations around the globe. My UN experience with UNDP, UNICEF, OCHA, WFP, Special Envoys in the field and at headquarters including managing complex situations, sustaining strategic partnerships, oversight for country offices, and almost three decades of working with governments, international institutions, and corporations, informed my ability to provide operational, policy, and advocacy advice to three UN Secretary-General and four Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and senior decision-makers from Heads of State & Government, senior representatives of Regional Organizations, etc. I have facilitated the rollout of coherence initiatives in Guatemala and Uganda for the incorporation of humanitarian concerns into political mediation and peace processes in UNAVEM (Angola), UNAMSIL (Sierra Leone), UNOCI (Cote d’Ivoire), UNAMID (Darfur/Sudan), MINURCAT (Chad).
My Vision
After almost three decades working with governments, international institutions and corporations, I have learned that the lack of relevant information and entry points often leads to ineffective decisions that affect targets and profit. Establishing an effective plan to address opportunities and mitigate risks are key to develop and implement viable solutions. This will also help create risk management initiatives that will enable nations to meet aspirations and private sector partners to meet return on investment goals. I believe we have an opportunity to redefine how nations and leaders of industry can develop solutions that do no harm to people or the environment.
My experience in the private sector empowered me to become a creative and effective communicator. While working in advertising with STB & Associates, broadcasting with Philip Trimnell Productions and as a freelance interpreter I created innovative approaches to communicate in complex multicultural environments. Working for the Embassy of Argentina in Nigeria, I managed outreach with potential investors, established a mechanism to exercise due diligence and procedures to ensure the safety of victims of fraud.
